Our group attended and presented at the Lunar Surface Innovation Consortium (LSIC) Spring Meeting 2024, hosted by the John Hopkins University, Applied Physics Lab. During the event, Dr. Han presented our LuSTR 2021 project titled “Regolith Beneficiation System for production of Lunar Calcium and Aluminum”, while Peter Bachle conducted a technical demonstration.

November 15-17 2023

For the conclusion of the 2023 NASA BIG IDEAS CHALLENGE: Lunar Forge, Jacob Ortega and a team of five undergraduate researchers participated in the 2023 NASA Big Ideas Forum in Cleveland, Ohio. Our team presented our project “Lunar In-Situ Aluminum Production Through Molten Salt Electrolysis (LISAP-MSE)” where we received the Edison Award.

Our group attended the hybrid in-person and virtual AIAA SciTech Forum 2023 held at National Harbor, MD and online. David Lund presented our paper titled “Charging of Irregularly-Shaped Dust Grains near Surfaces in Space”.

December 12-16, 2022

David Lund attended and presented our work titled “Fully-Kinetic Particle Simulations of Plasma Charging at Lunar Craters under Average and Severe Solar Wind Conditions” at AGU Fall Meeting 2022 held at Chicago, IL.
